The Show

The Martin Lastrapes Show Podcast Hour is the show that may or may not be an hour long, based on your perception of time and how much Martin has to say.

It's both a silly and earnest look into the mind of award-winning novelist Martin Lastrapes as he talks about writing, publishing, and most anything else he finds interesting—from movies and television to professional wrestling to comic books.

Martin often engages in in-depth conversations with writers and actors and family members and strangers and most anybody else willing to sit down in front of a microphone.

Martin Lastrapes

Martin is an award-winning novelist, a Buffy enthusiast, and a podcaster.

His debut novel, Inside the Outside, has been praised by readers and critics alike and in the spring of 2012 it won the Grand Prize in the Paris Book Festival. Since publishing his novel, Martin has been invited to speak all over Southern California, from high schools and universities to libraries and federal prisons.

He grew up in the Inland Empire, an eclectic region of Southern California that birthed the Hell’s Angels, housed the first McDonald’s restaurant, and is one of the foremost manufacturers and suppliers of crystal meth. He spent the great majority of his childhood watching professional wrestling and reading comic books, cultivating dreams of being Hulk Hogan or Batman (whichever came first).

Martin has a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in Composition, both from California State University, San Bernardino.

Chanel Chakko

Chanel is a blogger, an expert shopper, and a podcaster.

Growing up, she often rooted for the villains in Disney films, because they had better clothes and were way more interesting than the princesses.

Chanel loves most anything dark and surreal, cultivating a love for movies and TV shows such as Labyrinth, Beetlejuice, The Munsters and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She also loves art and artists such as Glenn Arther and Handiedan. As an avid reader and lover of books Chanel enjoys most anything by Tom Robbins, Neil Gaiman, and, of course, Martin Lastrapes.

As a fashion lover, Chanel has cultivated a unique appreciation for the more “costume-y” side of fashion, which has led to her overwhelming love of gothic and pinup fashions. Her blog, Chanel's Sick & Pretty Parlour is a place for the beautiful and macabre where you'll find her views on fashion, beauty, and shopping.

Chanel has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino.
